Why I built it
After building Outdoor Inventory, I wanted to talk to an agent that knew what gear I owned. But asking questions about my stuff only went so far. I wanted it to help me get outside. I connected AllTrails and weather information, then gave the AI guidance on which gear went with which activities. Now I could ask, “I want to hike in Boulder with my dog tomorrow. What are some good five-mile hikes?” and get trail links, the forecast, what to bring from my inventory, and anything I might be missing.
What it grew into
Then the scope crept. Planning a hike was useful, but an overnight trip brought another question: where am I staying? I built directories of BLM land across the Rockies, along with government-run and locally run campsites, including when campsite reservations open. That let me find places to go, plan around booking windows, and set reminders for sites that fill up fast. Trails, weather, gear, and camping plans could all come together in the same Telegram conversation.
Where it led
Then I bought a nice camera to take hiking and camping. Naturally, I wanted help learning to use that too. I added a photography learning system to the same web app and Telegram agent, with lessons, assignments, image uploads, and follow-up questions. That became Camera Agent, the next part of the project. This was one of my first big builds, and the scope creep was very real. A way to talk about my gear had become a way to plan trips and learn something new along the way.

I asked for dog-friendly camping near Boulder, water nearby, and accessible hiking. The response brought together a forecast, campground suggestions, booking considerations, and items from my kit. This saved exchange shows suggestions, not confirmed campsite availability.

Then I wanted to learn my camera.
