Why I built it
I was heading to Telluride Bluegrass and wanted an “easy” way to figure out what gear I already had and what I still needed to buy. I had an agent go through multiple retail accounts I use and index my purchase history. What started as a packing question quickly became a much bigger project.
What it grew into
A searchable inventory of what I own, what I spent, and when I bought it. After indexing past purchases, the system now picks up new purchases from my email. I added warranty reminders and expected item lifetimes to help track when things might need attention or replacement. I even made sure to find pictures of each item. Outdoor gear was the starting point, but the same foundation already supports sports, kitchen, pet, and other categories. I haven’t built each area out as far yet. The inventory is there to build on.
Where it led
Then the scope crept again: I wanted to talk to it. Once I had a record of my gear, I wanted to ask what I was missing for a trip or what I could use from my existing kit. That became Outdoor Telegram Agent. The inventory gives it context about what I own, so a conversation about gear or trip planning can start with what’s already on my shelf.
From an order email to the gear shelf.
Purchase history becomes something I can actually use.
What I own, in one place.
Purchase emails become a categorized inventory, with duplicate checks, a Google Sheets ledger, and a web dashboard.
